The Department of Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham stands as one of the largest and most comprehensive academic medical departments in the Southeast. Under the Chairman's Office, we coordinate the clinical, educational, and research missions that define UAB Medicine as a national leader in internal medicine.

Cardiology

Advanced cardiac care including interventional procedures, electrophysiology, heart failure, and preventive cardiology.

Gastroenterology

Comprehensive digestive disease management, advanced endoscopy, hepatology, and inflammatory bowel disease programs.

Oncology & Hematology

Multidisciplinary cancer care integrating medical oncology, hematology, bone marrow transplantation, and clinical trials.

Infectious Disease

Specialized management of complex infections, HIV/AIDS care, antimicrobial stewardship, and travel medicine.

Pulmonology & Critical Care

Advanced lung disease management, critical care medicine, sleep disorders, and mechanical ventilation expertise.
